Acrylic abstract artist, Rosemary Craig's diptych, Unconstrained

Unconstrained

My abstract work is inspired by impressionist studies of things of the natural world. Unconstrained was born of a study of an eddy in water, titled Contrary.

The definition of water eddies is “a circular movement of water, counter to a main current, causing a small whirlpool”. In nature, they can theoretically go on indefinitely. The only way to stop them is change.

One of the lessons nature teaches us with the eddy is this: In order to continue our journey, we sometimes have to make a change and break free of what has delayed or distracted us. If the distraction is a pleasant one, that may be difficult, but it must be done if we want to advance on our journey.

Unconstrained tells the story of our human journey when we’re finally able to break free from unnecessary obstacles or distractions that can delay us on our journey. This release can be very liberating. Sometimes more than we ever imagined.
