Rosemary Craig studied fine art and design at Coe College, Mount Mercy University & Iowa State University, College of Design. She has attended multiple workshops, working with and studying under accomplished artists, Bob Naujoks, John Beckelman, Jo Myers Walker, Joe Messner, Dick Grodt, and many more.
Rosemary works exclusively in abstract acrylics. Her style is often called action or gestural painting and involves purposefully throwing, dripping, pouring, etc. the paint onto a canvas lying flat. Her inspiration is derived from the minutia of the natural world and its similarities to the human condition.
Craig’s palette is made up of earth tones, with particular use of Prussian Blue, Sap Green & Raw Umber. One or a combination of these colors can be found in all of her current work.
Rosemary’s paintings are all done on high quality, gallery-wrapped 1½ or 2 inch profile canvas and she is particularly drawn to working in multiples. With each canvas panel often “telling its own part of the story”.
